GLENN CURTISS 136 MPH MOTORCYCLE MILE IN 1907

The 8 Cylinder, 40 H.P. Curtiss Motorcycle was driven a mile in 26 2/5 seconds by G. H. Curtiss at Ormond Beach, Florida on January 23, 1907.

What a great historic poster, if it only ever was - but it never was. But it is all true. It was designed from a rare three color advertising brochure printed for G. H. Curtiss Mfg. Co., Hammondsport, N.Y. in 1909. See more aviation history at the http://www.glennhcurtissmuseum .org/ in Hammondsport.

Quoting from it: "Exhaustive tests by experts such as Mr. Brush, designer of the Brush, Cadillac & Oakland automobiles. Henry Ford of Ford Auto together with Police Departments, Hill Climbers, Track & Endurance Racers all give Curtiss Motors the unanimous choice over NSU, Harley-Davidson, Indian, Merkel, R-S, Excelsior & three others."

And it goes on to say, "July 4, 1908 saw the culmination of a series of experiments that placed America in the front rank of aeronauts. At that time Glenn H. Curtiss, a member of the Aerial Experiment Association, flew the aeroplane,"June Bug," 1 1/4 miles in 1:42 2/5, winning the $2500 cup offered by the Scientific American."

This print incorporates the above quotes along with a great photo of Mr. Curtiss on his bike, his aeroplanes, Gold Medals from 1905 Lewis & Clark Exposition (Portland, OR), the 1907 Fifth Annual International Races (Ormond Beach, FL) and a Hill Climbing scene in the background. Satisfaction guaranteed!
